What are Relines?

Following the extraction of natural teeth, the jaw bone will continue to shrink for the rest of an individuals life. This can cause dentures to start feeling loose over time. When your denture starts feeling loose and doesn't fit your gums anymore, we can look at performing a reline procedure, which will tighten the denture back up while keeping the teeth intact.

There are 2 main types of relines, chair side and laboratory processed.

A chair side reline, as the name suggests, is done while your in the dental chair in a single appointment. The advantage of this method is that it's very quick so you don't have to go without your denture

The other method, laboratory processed, involves us taking a new impression of your gums using your current denture. Once we have this impression we use it to replace the old, loose fitting tissue side of your denture with new acrylic that more closely matches your gums.

As healthcare providers, we firmly believe that treatment does not end at delivery. Instead we will always be open to you in case you are having difficulties with your dentures and will be by your side as you adapt.
